So this is my version of my TA reports for January 9, 2010. My name is Brian Tat. Since is the first one, I will have to include my own reasons as to why I decided to post my own TA reports. To me personally, I believe that the TA reports are to record our experiences as a TA and to report on the daily activities of each classroom.
For me, blogging is very simple. It's clean and it's personalized in a way that the TA itself does not try to hide anything or "try to finish it ASAP." The reason that I am starting TA reports here is because it's a new year. And I know for a fact that some TAs don't even do their TA reports.
For the first 30 minutes of Tzu Chi, we discussed about MC schedule and each of our own TA games. To be honest, it feels like they've decided to gather all of the TAs in one group and expect them to feel more unified and together.
When Michael and I returned to our classroom, the kids were watching a video about nutrition and how to eat correctly. We discussed about "transfat" and what the kids should eat or not eat. By the time, the nutrition discussion was over, we had about 20 or 25 minutes left just for us TAs.
In our TA discussion, we discussed about the problems of bullies. In my perspective, I felt like we did a great job. I told the kids what I was told when I was in third grade, about how they taught us how different animals represent different people. In a way, they were already learning how to compare animals to people, which would probably help at some point in their academic life. I talked about an owl, a snake, and a turtle.
In my experience, I've only heard of TAs just telling stories about other people. I think it would be great if TAs could relate to the student rather than just telling stories, because a story can be picked up from anywhere, from a book or a website. But I like to show the kids that I personally understand them.
After the discussion, we did a brief game of "Four Corners."
